Spirit, mind, heart. This Japanese character (kanji) is composed of the components \"steam\" combined with \"rice.\" This Japanese term is used in hundreds of expressions referring to one's mind or mental state, e.g., Genki: to be well. Tenki: good weather.&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">DO<\/span><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">\u9053<\/span>: Path, way, method.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido \u201cThe Way of Harmony\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;It is a Japanese martial art that combines control techniques (katame waza) and projection or knockdown of one or more opponents (nage waza).<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Morihei Ueshiba<\/span>, whom his students called&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">O\u2019Sensei<\/span>&nbsp;(Grand Master), created the&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>&nbsp;at the beginning of the 20th century. Having been a master of various martial arts and a deeply spiritual person, he was able to reconcile the seemingly varied martial disciplines by creating the&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>, a martial path to help people develop their physical, mental and spiritual potential.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\">Making a somewhat simple translation,&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>&nbsp;It means \u201cthe path to harmony with the universal forces of life\u201d or \u201cthe path to unity with the fundamental forces of the universe.\u201d It has also been called \u201cThe Path to Spiritual Harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\">In it&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>&nbsp;The approach focuses on managing aggression and violence through energetic and positive training. Highly effective martial arts techniques are applied in a unique way: using dynamic body movement to neutralize attacks. A trained aikidoka is able to effectively and safely redirect the force of an attack.&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>&nbsp;It is designed to be able to handle not only one opponent, but several as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\">With the&nbsp;<span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Aikido<\/span>&nbsp;The practitioner is taught to be flexible, fluid, and focused, and to act spontaneously within the principles of the art. To do this, the aikidoka learns to unite mind, body, and spirit to the fullest.
