Koshi nage It is the term that names all the

hip projections.

The hips constitute the support point and axis around which uke's rotation and projection to the ground occur.

This technique has numerous applications in response to virtually all types of attacks.

The basic characteristics of koshi nage they are closely related to the orientation of Tori's hips relative to Uke's lower abdomen. This is a lateral positioning in the sense that Tori's hips touch the front of Uke's abdomen: Tori's hips trace a line that diagonally intersects Uke's axis.

It is important that uke's torso does not fall unbalanced on tori's back: the center of support for the latter must be the heavily muscled hips and pelvic area. Tori's abdomen must also be lower than uke's, because the point is not to lift him with force, but to make his body rotate almost naturally and effortlessly around tori's lowered hips. This way, it will be easy to roll him: if it is heavy, it is not koshi nage. And if there is no good ukemi, it is not aikido.
