Third lesson: immobilization by internal torsion of the arm, with the elbow semi-flexed and the wrist flexed. There are different ways to execute the technique, although they all share common aspects, such as Tori's position while holding Uke's hand and the movement with which he achieves the lock.
Sankyo can be a painful technique. The key is to control uke's body, for which the angle of his arm is critical. If his elbow is too bent, uke will be too close to tori, who will find himself in an unsafe position. If the grip and angle are correct and the feeling of unity between tori and uke is maintained, uke should follow uke's movements without any choice.
